Outstanding debt in the UK (2003) but living in Ireland now! HELP?

We can help you consolidate your existing debt into one manageable amount to pay each month.

Hello all.
I went to live in Australia in 2003, stayed for one year and am now living in Republic of Ireland.

I honestly forgot about a small credit card bill, which has now rose to £4000. I got a call on my mobile on Friday evening from a debt collecting agency in London. They basically told me that I had an outstanding debt in the UK (well Northern Ireland) and they wanted me to make an arrangement to repay.

I have bought my own house here almost 2 years ago, and have numerous credit cards etc down here. So my credit history is absolutely unaffected by these debts in the UK. I am also under the impression that if a debt remains unpaid for 6 years it is wiped from my history?

So my question is as follows:
Can anything be done to me by courts etc in the UK whilst I live down here? Technically I am no longer a resident of the UK and think that I could be quite within my rights to tell the debt agency to BOG OFF! All they have is a mobile number for me, no address!
